Down­stream ex­perts will at­tend the GDA Con­fer­ence and Ex­hi­bi­tion slated for 23-25 Oc­to­ber 2018 at Bahrain

The GDA In­ter­na­tional Down­stream Con­fer­ence and Ex­hi­bi­tion, launched by the Gulf Down­stream As­so­ci­a­tion (GDA), is the largest down­stream con­fer­ence and ex­hi­bi­tion of the year in Bahrain. Un­der the pa­tron­age of His Royal High­ness Prince Khal­ifa bin Sal­man Al Khal­ifa, Prime Min­is­ter, Bahrain, the GDA Con­fer­ence 2018 will be held un­der the theme ‘To­wards a Com­pet­i­tive Down­stream through In­no­va­tion, Col­lab­o­ra­tion and Tech­nol­ogy’.

The con­fer­ence ex­pects to host 4,500 at­ten­dees and 150 ex­hibitors, all with the sole pur­pose of strength­en­ing the down­stream in­dus­try and cap­i­tal­is­ing on the avail­able op­por­tu­ni­ties. The GDA event boasts of a high-cal­i­bre of pan­el­lists who are ex­perts in the down­stream in­dus­try and can of­fer deep in­sights into the in­dus­try and what the fu­ture holds. Pan­els at the con­fer­ence in­clude in­tense dis­cus­sions re­gard­ing the role of in­no­va­tion, col­lab­o­ra­tion, and tech­nol­ogy in the fu­ture of the down­stream in­dus­try.

The panel dis­cus­sion ti­tled ‘Fu­ture of Fu­els’ will dis­cuss the fu­ture of the down­stream busi­ness with a fo­cus on the prod­ucts de­mand, eco­nomics, and the out­look. The ses­sion will aim to share dif­fer­ent opin­ions from re­fin­ers, con­sumers, tech­nol­ogy providers and reg­u­la­tors on the fu­ture of the in­dus­try. Prom­i­nent speak­ers at this panel in­clude Jean-jac­ques Mosconi, SVP, re­fin­ing & petro­chem­i­cals, To­tal; Sule­man A Al-bar­gan, VP, do­mes­tic re­fin­ing & NGL frac­tion­a­tion, Aramco; David H Witte, SVP & di­vi­sion head – en­ergy & nat­u­ral re­sources, IHS Markit; and Jean Sen­tenac, chair­man & CEO, Ax­ens.

An­other panel dis­cus­sion on ‘Fu­ture of En­ergy’ will fo­cus on the fu­ture of the en­ergy de­mand and new tech­nolo­gies that will im­pact the down­stream busi­ness. The ses­sion will aim to high­light the lat­est de­vel­op­ment in the fu­ture of the en­ergy mix in the world and in the GCC, and its im­pact on the down­stream in­dus­try. Prom­i­nent speak­ers at this panel in­clude Dr Sun Xian­sheng, sec­re­tary gen­eral, In­ter­na­tional En­ergy Fo­rum; Dr An­drea Lo­vato, chief tech­nol­ogy of­fi­cer, ACWA Power; and David M John­son, pres­i­dent and CEO, Achates Power. A third panel dis­cus­sion en­ti­tled ‘Fu­ture of Mar­gins’ will dis­cuss the fu­ture of the re­fin­ing mar­gins and how to main­tain com­pet­i­tive­ness in the fu­ture en­vi­ron­ment. The ses­sion will pro­vide in­sights into the char­ac­ter­is­tics of prof­itable fa­cil­i­ties, in­te­gra­tion and up­grade op­tions, digitalisation and bench­mark­ing with other re­gions.

A round­table on hu­man cap­i­tal will fo­cus on the cur­rent chal­lenges and the best prac­tices in ac­quir­ing and de­vel­op­ing tal­ent in down­stream in­dus­try. The dis­cus­sion will also high­light the col­lab­o­ra­tion be­tween academia, R&D and the down­stream busi­ness.
