BeIN Sports agree six-year ECB contract
beIN Sports have continued their drive into cricket broadcast rights by signing a six-year contract today by the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) for the MENA region. Under the six-year deal,
beIN will screen clashes including India’s 2018 and 2022 tours to England, as well as the Ashes series in the UK in 2019. Previously, England’s home internationals were screened by OSN Sports.
beIN, who until this year have not shown much of an appetite for bidding for cricket rights, last week announced a deal to broadcast Cricket Australia content, starting with the 2017-18 Ashes which began last night in Brisbane.
Tom Harrison, CEO of the ECB, said: “This is a comprehensive and compelling package of rights which will help give cricket excellent exposure in the region.”
