Dragons hope to tame Bulls

Defending champions Dubai Dragons will get their AFL Middle East Premiership campaign underway on Friday (12:00) when they take on Multiplex Bulls in a repeat of last year’s Grand Final.

The Dragons secured their fourth successive Premiership title when they beat the Bulls in March, but a strong pre-season for Nathan Holly’s side has tilted this weekend’s game in their favour.

Bulls coach Andrew Walters said: “We are really looking forward to the season ahead and hoping to continue with the form that saw us win the Pre-Season Cup last month.

Meanwhile, new Dragons coach Chris Burke said: “It has been exciting to watch the integration of new talent join the club over a solid pre-season. We understand the challenge that we face, but look forward to the hitout against the Bulls.”

In the curtain raiser, Abu Dhabi Falcons take on the Dubai Dingoes (10:00).
