Reid riled by random tests
Panthers safety Eric Reid, a staunch supporter of former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s social justice protests, found himself at odds with NFL policies again this week.
Reid was tabbed for a random drug test after Thursday’s loss to Pittsburgh, saying it was “like the fifth time since I’ve been here”.
Reid signed with Carolina in September and has played six games. He returned to the league saying he would continue to kneel during the national anthem. NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy tweeted on Friday to reassert the drug testing was random, repudiating suggestions Reid is being targeted.
