The latest craze that’s sweeping the region is like playing a liveaction video game

Escape games are the new hotness, and the folks at Hungarian Games have brought the original Parapark - the company that kicked off the craze back in 2011 - rooms to Dubai. They offer three different escape rooms that place you and your mates into wildly different scenarios: ‘Crime Scene’ where you are thrust into the role of private investigators, attempting to solve a murder and uncover corruption within the force, ‘4th Element’ an underwater adventure that sees you trying to thieve treasure from the lost city of Atlantis, and, our favourite, ‘Studio 113’ which unfolds like a psychological thriller as you battle with your own personality disorder in an attempt to break free.

You pick from one of the three possible scenarios and have 60 minutes to escape using a combination of wits, cunning and a bevy of clues scattered around the environment. Each room is unique meaning that the skills that served you well as the city’s best private dicks, won’t necessarily be helpful when you’re trying to hustle away with Atlantean gold. Once you’ve completed the rooms, there’s also host of activities to keep you occupied including an indoor golfing simulator to practice your swing shot, an art studio where you can paint on wall-sized canvases, and set of mini-escape experiences if you just couldn’t get enough of the full-fat ones.
