WHEN LESS IS MORE

THE DUBAI-BASED PRÊT LABEL NATASHA V HAS NAILED THE MINIMALISTIC TREND

- By Manjula Ramakrishnan

Natasha V is a contemporary prêt label that celebrates minimalistic elegance. Named after the prodigious designer, Natasha Variava, the collections showcase handpicked luxe fabrics and timeless silhouettes. Based in Dubai, this homegrown label comes with a global approach. The designer has assisted in styling a number of A-list celebrities in Bollywood films and has global internships with Stella Mccartney and Versace India.

Natasha talks designs and trends to Panorama. yourself up for a dinner date or an outing with your girlfriends. Equally easy would be getting dressed for an informal brunch/lunch look or dress down completely or put together an elaborate ensemble for a more grandeur occasion. Versatility is thus a guiding factor behind our designs.

How has this region responded to your cuts and styles?

Initially, it was all about communicating and understanding what would work well for this region as opposed to selling ourselves out there. With collection 2 (The revival) and collection 3 (The Sydney), we have transitioned into the market with our cuts and silhouettes. The response so far has been humbling and we have happy customers when it comes to the versatility of the brand.

How would you best describe your designs?

Pivotally it is a luxè-affordable collection which is highly wearable by most women in our region. It is conservative yet chic and covers a full day-to-night look; which is going from relaxed to full glam, covering the entire spectrum of a client’s needs.

My current collection, for instance, is a big tribute to the vibrant city of Sydney (thereby calling it The #Sydney Collection). The city’s relaxed beach vibes, people, food, architecture, casual attitude and just the entire buzz around it is what the collection essentially captures.

The clothes are flowy and easy/breathable and the colours depict the various accents of blues that Sydney as a city has to offer. Happy soft silks, breathable crepes, cotton terry and more on those lines have been used to make the collection happy and easy to shop.
