India’s richest man hires Beyoncé to perform at daughter’s pre-wedding
Beyoncé performed a concert at a wedding celebration in India after being hired by India’s wealthiest man, Mukesh Ambani.
The singer performed a private concert for the guests in Udaipur, Rajasthan, as part of the pre-wedding festivities.
Her set, which reportedly featured several costume changes, spanned hits, including Crazy in Love and Naughty Girl.
The concert was also attended by Hillary Clinton and newlyweds Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra. Beyoncé posted a photo of herself wearing an Indianinspired outfit on Instagram, with others sharing footage of her performance on Twitter.
It’s unknown how much Ambani paid her to perform. Mukesh’s daughter Isha Ambani’s marriage to childhood friend Anand Piramal took place at her family home in Mumbai which is estimated to be the second most expensive property in the world, behind Buckingham Palace.
Piramal’s father, also a business tycoon, is ranked as the 24th wealthiest person in India by Forbes.
The week-long celebration has reportedly cost up to $100 million (Dhs367m). According to Reuters, chartered planes were hired to bring guests to the ceremony with security beefed up in advance.
