Our road trip around the UAE for this month’s fashion editorial, Dusk to Dawn (page 36), culminated at the Kingfisher Lodge. Set in the heart of the Khor Kalba mangrove conservation reserve in Sharjah and with stunning views of the country’s East Coast, the glamping spot has 20 luxury tents, done up in shades of tan and blue to reflect the surrounding topography. Amenities include a splash pool and spa, as well as provisions for paddleboarding, kayaking, nature walks and mountain bike rides. The reserve is recognised as a sustainable wetland environment for many endangered species, and you can spot the Arabian collared kingfisher and turtles hatching along the banks of the estuary. The eco-friendly lodge has been designed using green construction techniques, and operates with a view to preserve local flora and fauna.
