MONTBLANC
With the latest addition to its Great Characters collection, Montblanc honours the legacy of actor James Dean. The design of the three types of luxury writing instruments is meant to capture the rebellious and unconventional star’s story, which remains fascinating almost 65 years a er his untimely death. The pieces within the James Dean Special Edition have a red precious resin on the cap and barrel, which mimics the vibrant colour of the jacket the actor wore in his second film, Rebel Without a Cause. Available as a fountain pen, a rollerball and a ballpoint pen, the pattern evokes the structure of a pair of jeans, while inlays on the cap reference his most famous scenes. The Limited Edition 99 is restricted to 99 pieces, a reference to the year 1999, when Dean was honoured for his outstanding contribution to cinema. The pen’s knife-shaped design is a tribute to the fight scene in Rebel Without a Cause, while the handcra ed rhodiumcoated Au 750 gold nib is engraved with a racing-flag design. Limited Edition 1931, meanwhile, has 1,931 fountain pens and 1,931 rollerballs, in reference to the year Dean was born. It celebrates the screen legend’s passion for fast cars, with the Ag 925 sterling silver barrel engraved with a pattern reminiscent of the oil-cooler grille on the Porsche 550 Spyder.
