Having spearheaded the first-ever Mount Everest clean-up from base camp to summit last year, Bally is leading another initiative in the Himalayas. Under the Bally Peak Outlook Foundation, the brand is sponsoring a sustained two-year programme in the region to help maintain the environment. Last year, more than 11 tonnes of food, plastic and equipment were removed from the slopes. The brand will fund a second clearing of Mount Everest Base Camp this year, as well as a clean-up of another seven Himalayan mountains of over 8,000 metres. Bally’s chief executive, Nicolas Girotto, says: “Brands must lead with purpose and for Bally, the mountain lifestyle is the essence of the company. We want to leverage this deep connection to bring awareness of the impact of outdoor tourism and global warming on these extreme environments. We have come together to develop an extensive programme, reinforced by the establishment of a dedicated foundation, that enables us to use our reach and resources to support local communities in their endeavours to protect mountainscapes worldwide. This is a long-term mission and it’s only the beginning.” www.bally.com
