Bayern Munich chairman KarlHeinz Rummenigge insists the German side back manager Carlo Ancelotti despite their Uefa Champions League and German Cup exits in a little over a week. After going out of the Champions League 6-3 on aggregate to Real Madrid, Bayern lost 3-2 to Dortmund in the semi-finals of the German Cup. The cup defeat leaves them winless in their past five games – Bayern’s worst streak without a victory for 17 years. But Rummenigge has made it clear he and club president Uli Hoeness are backing Ancelotti – for now. “Carlo is a very good and experienced coach,” Rummenigge told

Bild. “His contract [until 2019] is well known and will not be discussed.” Bayern are still top and on track to win the Bundesliga for a fifth successive season. They lead second-placed RB Leipzig by eight points in the standings with four games of the season remaining and are away at Wolfsburg today.
