Ge­orge Town fes­ti­val kicks off in Malaysia

This fes­ti­val in Malaysia be­gan in 2010 in hon­our of the city’s des­ig­na­tion as a Unesco World Her­itage Site. It’s the cap­i­tal of the state of Penang, and the month-long fes­ti­val fea­tures dozens of events across arts, cul­ture and her­itage. This year the Cana­dian cir­cus group Les 7 Doigts de la Main will per­form along with one of Aus­tralia’s top abo­rig­i­nal groups, the Black Arm Band. Lo­cal Malaysian acts in­clude a clas­si­cal mu­sic per­for­mance by En­sem­ble Koschka, and Moved by Padi a dance in­stal­la­tion that hap­pens on a rice field.
