George Town festival kicks off in Malaysia
This festival in Malaysia began in 2010 in honour of the city’s designation as a Unesco World Heritage Site. It’s the capital of the state of Penang, and the month-long festival features dozens of events across arts, culture and heritage. This year the Canadian circus group Les 7 Doigts de la Main will perform along with one of Australia’s top aboriginal groups, the Black Arm Band. Local Malaysian acts include a classical music performance by Ensemble Koschka, and Moved by Padi a dance installation that happens on a rice field. The George Town Festival runs until August 28.
