An artis­tic re­sponse to the fes­ti­val of colour

This month sees the Hindu cel­e­bra­tion of Holi. The fes­ti­val of colour marks the ar­rival of spring and is now cel­e­brated across the world. In the 2014 re­lease, Radhe Radhe: Rites of Holi, com­poser and pi­anist Vi­jay Iyer and film­maker Prashant Bhar­gava re­sponded to Rus­sian com­poser Igor Stravin­sky’s Le Sacré du Prin­temps (The Rite of Spring) with a 35 minute film about the fes­ti­val. Now at New York Uni­ver­sity Abu Ahabi, the In­ter­na­tional Con­tem­po­rary En­sem­ble will join Iyer to per­form the score along­side Bhar­gava’s footage. It prom­ises to be a lively de­scent into the streets of In­dia. The event takes place at the Red Theatre on March 30 and 31 at 8pm. The event is free.
