Learn about an ancient Bronze Age city-state
Recent excavations at the Bronze Age site of Tell Atchana in the Orontes valley in southern Turkey is the subject of the annual Oliver Gurney Memorial Lecture being held at the British Institute at Ankara. The lecture is being given by Aslıhan Yener, a professor at the Oriental Institute, University of Chicago, and an archaelogist at Koç University, Istanbul. Yener is a lead archaeologist in the dig as well as a published author on the ancient Hittite city-state of Ancient Alalakh. She will explain recent finds, sacred architecture and burial practices.
