q I was abroad and using my Etisalat mobile phone. I did not realise that mobile data would cost so much while abroad and came back to a bill of more than Dh1,000. Can I get my money back?

a While subscribing to a telephone service, it is important to understand terms and conditions that explain usage of data packages and internet. Etisalat may only charge as per the subscription contract that you signed with them. You may not be able to get your money back unless you can prove that your mobile usage was much

less than billed by Etisalat. I think someone is using my credit card illegally. I received a text saying that money had been withdrawn from the account, which was not me. What steps do I take to stop it happening? Can I get my money back? First, you should call the bank about unauthorised usage of your credit card. You have to request them to cancel your credit card as soon as possible to prevent it happening again. You have the right to file a police complaint to report illegal usage of the card. You may also raise a claim against the culprit once his/her identity is known by filing a police complaint followed by a civil claim to recover funds. I lost my access card for the car park in my building, now my landlord wants Dh300 for a new one – I argued that this is a rip-off. Shouldn’t the cost of the card be included in my rent? A tenancy contract signed between parties must state the terms of agreement, including car parking, common areas and access cards. If the tenancy contract states that car park card charges have to be borne by the tenant then tenant is liable for such charges.
