ABU DHABI // An 11-month-old Emirati has won a memorable birthday gift, becoming the youngest owner of a Maserati sports car.

His family celebrated Humaid Al Muhairi’s good fortune after he became the second major prizewinner in Yas Island’s Say Yas summer campaign.

His delighted father, Mohammed, was given the keys to the vehicle during a family visit to Ferrari World Abu Dhabi last week.

“We were very surprised to learn that Humaid was the winner of the Maserati,” said Mr Al Muhairi. “Thank you so much to Yas Island for this wonderful day for my family and this great prize.” Mr Al Muhairi took Humaid to Ferrari World with his mother, Hind Al Hameeri, and his brothers, Omair, 5, and Ahmad, 3. The family initially thought they were there to collect a much smaller prize.

But upon arrival they were greeted by Ferrari World Abu Dhabi’s general manager, Jesse Vargas, and deputy general manager, Victoria Lynn.

They were alongside a host of the park’s characters bearing gifts, including a gift box with a toy model Maserati along with keys to the real thing.

The win came just days before Humaid celebrates his first birthday on September 4.

“Yas Island is about creating remarkable moments for families and friends of all ages,” said Mohammed Al Zaabi, the chief executive of Miral, an asset management company. “Today, as we award the second Say Yas Maserati to 11-month-old Humaid and his family, we are also looking forward to welcoming him and his family back again and long into the future.” The Say Yas campaign runs until September 16 and gives visitors to Yas Island the chance to win Dh1 million in cash, another Maserati, a trip for four people to the Ferrari factory in Maranello, Italy, and weekly draws for one of three stay cations as well as three weekly Yas Mall gift vouchers worth Dh10,000 each.
