Have trust in Allah at all times

Allah’s mercy precedes his anger and, therefore, people should think well of Him at all times, worshippers will hear today.

He is the most powerful, rich and generous, and his possessions are never reduced by his never-ending favours upon people, today’s sermon says. And assuming good of Allah is part of a believer’s faith. An example is when Prophet Ibrahim used to leave his home, he used to say: “Indeed, I will go to [where I am ordered by] my Lord; He will guide me.”

This showed that he had good thoughts and trust in his Lord, that He will guide him.

Another role model in this regard is Prophet Musa (Moses). When he and his people reached the seashore and the Pharaoh was chasing them, his companions panicked and are quoted in the Quran as saying: “Indeed, we are to be overtaken!”

However, Musa said: “No! Indeed, with me is my Lord; He will guide me.”

His trust that Allah will save them did not go to waste, as a verse from the Quran says: “We saved Moses and those with him, all together”.

Prophet Mohammed set a formidable example of someone who had true confidence in his Lord.

He used to advise all his companions to think good of Allah, the Almighty. A good example is when he was with Abu Bakr Al Siddiq in the cave during the migration from Mecca to Madinah. Abu Bakr said to him: “If any of them should look under his feet, he would see us.” The Prophet said, “O Abu Bakr! What do you think of two [persons] the third of whom is Allah?” So, “Allah sent down his tranquillity upon him and supported him with angels you did not see”. (At-Tawba: 40)

This calls for a question as to when should one think well of Allah. The answer to this question is that we should “have a positive outlook about Him, the most high, at all times and under all circumstances”.
