‘The Wizard of Oz’ draft scripts go up for sale
Draft scripts for The Wizard of Oz and material from the archives of the 1939 film are expected to be sold for up to $1.2 million (Dh4.4m) at auction in December. Los Angeles auctioneers Profiles in History said four handwritten draft screenplays by the late Noel Langley, one of about a dozen screenwriters who worked on the film adaptation of L Frank Baum’s children’s book, were among the lot. Sixteen photos of special effects in the film, including the tornado sequence, are also among the items. The fantasy film brought worldwide fame to Judy Garland and became an enduring cinema classic. The archive is being sold by an anonymous private collector.
