‘Dubai, here we come’:

Salah headed to UAE Mohamed Salah will be making a visit to Dubai, the Egyptian superstar has said on Twitter. Salah, who scored in the final minute to give Egypt a 3-2 home victory over Tunisia on Friday in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match, tweeded a message saying “Dubai, here we come” yesterday morning. Salah is reportedly arriving in the emirate for a youth conference later this week. Salah’s Egypt side were due to play the UAE in a friendly in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday before the match was postponed. The Liverpool forward chipped the ball into the net to complete the scoring in a seesaw Matchday 5 struggle during which both sides led. Both countries have already qualified for the continental competition in Cameroon next year. Salah has scored four goals in qualifying – two less than chart-topper Odion Ighalo of Nigeria.

‘Fragrant smell’ kicks up a stink at the darts

Some athletes blame poor performances on the state of the pitch. Others blame it on tactics, or perhaps just a bad day at the office. But blaming your opponent for farting is definitely a new one. Yet that’s exactly what happened at the Grand Slam of Darts in Wolverhampton, with both Gary Anderson and Wesley Harms denying responsibility for the “rotten egg smells”. Two-time Scottish world champion Anderson, 47, won Thursday’s match 10-2 to progress to the quarterfinals, but Dutchman Harms, 34, was quick to explain his sub-standard performance by accusing Anderson of leaving a “fragrant smell”. He told Dutch TV station RTL7L: “It’ll take me two nights to lose this smell from my nose.” World

No 4 Anderson was not best pleased by the accusation, saying the smell had definitely come “from the table side” at the Aldersley Leisure Village. “If the boy thinks I’ve farted he’s 1010 per cent wrong. I swear on my children’s lives that it was not my fault,” he said.

▷▷▷ Giggs criticises ‘cheap shot’ on Wales’ Ampadu

Ryan Gigg said he felt that Wales defender Ethan Ampadu had been the victim of “a cheap shot” during Denmark’s 2-1 Uefa Nations League win in Cardiff on Friday. Wales missed out on promotion to the top tier as Denmark won a hard-fought contest 2-1 at Cardiff City Stadium. A poor high challenge by Kasper Dolberg saw Ampadu hit the advertising boards before it sparked a melee and prompted Giggs to voice his feelings to Denmark manager Age Hareide. “I just thought it was a cheap shot,” Wales manager Giggs said. “You have got a lad just turned 18 who broke his leg when he was 17. It was a late tackle.”
