Meditating monk killed by jungle cat

-

A Buddhist monk was killed by a leopard while meditating in a protected forest for the big cats, the fifth such attack in the area this month. Rahul Walke Bodhi, 35, was praying in Ramdegi forest in western India on Tuesday when the leopard pounced. The monk was fatally injured, police in Maharashtra state said. Two other devotees escaped to alert police, who started a search for his body. The forest, about 825 kilometres west of the state capital Mumbai, falls within a reserve where four other fatal attacks happened in recent weeks. The monks, who were in the area for a prayer conference, had ignored warnings from locals, police said.
