Don’t be a litterbug and make sure you pick up your rubbish

With regards to your story Why plogging is the social media fitness craze that needs to catch on in the UAE (January 3), it turns out I was cool without even knowing it.

I even pick up rubbish when I am out at sea paddleboarding. I agree that people need to be taught how to dispose of rubbish properly.

Littering is an epidemic in this country. There is an assumption from some people that there will be someone who will pick up after you. Fines for littering, enforced by the police, would help. Education and a change of mindset are the only way to change bad habits.
