DUBAI SOULFUL MELODIES
Get tickets to see Mica Paris at Dubai Opera. After wowing audiences last year with a show dedicated to Ella Fitzgerald, the British soul star returns to the same venue with a new show dedicated to Aretha Franklin. Paris will perform select pieces from the six-decade career of the Queen of Soul. She will sing hits including Respect, I Say A Little Prayer, Bridge Over Troubled Water and A Natural Woman.

SHARJAH ART IN THE CITY
The three-month-long Sharjah Architecture Triennial kicks off this month. Themed Rights of Future Generations, the event explores urbanism and the role of architecture in managing the long-term effects of climate change. The diverse programme features lectures from
policy-makers and scientists, as well as exhibitions by architects and artists.

DUBAI INTO THE WILD
Aventura Park has reopened for the winter season. The adventure park offers attractions such as tree-surfing, zip-lining and rope-climbing, set in Dubai’s Mushrif Park. There are 85 different challenges set across five different levels arranged above the ground between the trees. ABU DHABI RUN A MARATHON
Sign up for the 35th Striders Half Marathon and 10km run set to take place around Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island. The flat course will start at Yas Waterworld, taking in the Yas Plaza Hotels precinct, Yas Marina, Ferrari World, Yas Mall and Yas Gateway Park. All runners will receive a medal, breakfast and access to the waterpark on the day of the race.

DUBAI FAMILY DAY OUT
Global Village has reopened its doors for another season. This year, there are more than 3,500 shopping outlets from 78 countries, set across 25 pavilions. Head down this week to be one of the first to experience the new season, which features Ripley’s Believe it or Not! museum attraction, as well as live shows and fireworks displays each weekend.

DUBAI MAKE A SPLASH
If you find yourself in Wild Wadi Waterpark on any day before the Dubai Fitness Challenge comes to a close, head to the information cabana by 3pm and pick a fitness tracking device of your choice to take part in a walking challenge. The contest tasks you with taking 3,030 steps (in keeping with the event’s 30 minutes for 30 days motto). The first power walker to hit the number will receive a complimentary three-month pass to the waterpark, while every participant will get the entry fee waived on their next visit.
