Get tick­ets to see Mica Paris at Dubai Opera. Af­ter wow­ing au­di­ences last year with a show ded­i­cated to Ella Fitzger­ald, the Bri­tish soul star re­turns to the same venue with a new show ded­i­cated to Aretha Franklin. Paris will per­form se­lect pieces from the six-decade ca­reer of the Queen of Soul. The three-month-long Sharjah Ar­chi­tec­ture Tri­en­nial kicks off this month. Themed Rights of Fu­ture Gen­er­a­tions, the event ex­plores ur­ban­ism and the role of ar­chi­tec­ture in man­ag­ing the long-term ef­fects of cli­mate change. The di­verse pro­gramme fea­tures lec­tures from

Aven­tura Park has re­opened for the win­ter sea­son. The ad­ven­ture park of­fers at­trac­tions such as tree-surf­ing, zip-lin­ing and rope-climb­ing, set in Dubai’s Mushrif Park. There are 85 dif­fer­ent chal­lenges set across five dif­fer­ent lev­els ar­ranged above the ground be­tween the trees. Sign up for the 35th Strid­ers Half Marathon and 10km run set to take place around Abu Dhabi’s Yas Is­land. The flat course will start at Yas Water­world, tak­ing in the Yas Plaza Ho­tels precinct, Yas Marina, Fer­rari World, Yas Mall and Yas Gate­way Park. Global Vil­lage has re­opened its doors for an­other sea­son. This year, there are more than 3,500 shop­ping out­lets from 78 coun­tries, set across 25 pav­il­ions. Head down this week to be one of the first to ex­pe­ri­ence the new sea­son, which fea­tures Ri­p­ley’s Be­lieve it or Not! mu­seum at­trac­tion, as well as live shows and fire­works dis­plays each week­end.

If you find your­self in Wild Wadi Wa­ter­park on any day be­fore the Dubai Fit­ness Chal­lenge comes to a close, head to the in­for­ma­tion ca­bana by 3pm and pick a fit­ness track­ing de­vice of your choice to take part in a walk­ing chal­lenge. The con­test tasks you with tak­ing 3,030 steps (in keep­ing with the event’s 30 min­utes for 30 days motto). The first power walker to hit the num­ber will re­ceive a com­pli­men­tary three-month pass to the wa­ter­park, while ev­ery par­tic­i­pant will get the en­try fee waived on their next visit.
