Cows washed away by hurricane found alive

The National - News - - WORLD NEWS -

Three cows were discovered on North Carolina’s Outer Banks, where they apparently washed up after swimming for about eight kilometres to escape Hurricane Dorian’s storm surge in September. The cows, which were found near Cape Lookout this month, belong to a herd that roams freely on Cedar Island. When Dorian generated a two-metre mini tsunami, it washed them and dozens of other animals away, including 28 wild horses that died. Cape Lookout National Seashore spokesman B G Horvat said the cows were grazing peacefully after a harrowing feat of survival, but they needed to go home. He thinks they will have to be sedated for the boat trip.
