Pakistani authorities schedule 27 repatriation flights to take citizens home from Emirates
Dozens of repatriation flights have been scheduled to take Pakistani citizens home from the UAE during the first 10 days of next month.
Last Thursday, Pakistan officials announced 27 special flights had been arranged to help citizens return home.
The flights are part of a large repatriation operation that is being carried out by Pakistan, in collaboration with UAE authorities.
About 63,000 Pakistanis have registered with the General Consulate of Pakistan in Dubai to return home after regular passenger flights were grounded as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.
The Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resources Development released the flight schedule last Thursday.
Pakistani citizens will be taken to major cities such as Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, Karachi, Peshawar and Islamabad.
Pakistan International Airlines will operate 20 repatriation flights, with the rest to be carried out by UAE airlines.
More than 11,500 Pakistanis have been repatriated from the UAE since special flights began more than a month ago. The
General Consulate of Pakistan in Dubai has issued a warning about con artists who pretend to be consulate officials selling flight tickets.
Consul general Ahmed Amjad Ali said citizens who had registered for flights through the consulate in Dubai should wait to receive a confirmation call.
Officials will then explain how to purchase a ticket at the airport, he said.
Mr Ali said citizens should not pay for flights online because the tickets would be fake.
