Maxwell ignored FBI agents during arrest

-

British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell ignored FBI orders during her arrest on sex-trafficking charges, prosecutors said on Monday as they urged a US judge to deny her bail request. Attorneys for the Southern District of New York said agents had to breach the front door of her home to detain her on July 2. The allegation was made in response to Ms Maxwell’s lawyers asking New York Judge Alison Nathan to release their client on a bond of $5 million (Dh18.3m) during a bail hearing. They insist Ms Maxwell, 58, is not a flight risk. The prosecution responded by saying her conduct at the time of her arrest suggests she may try to flee justice. Ms Maxwell is accused of grooming and recruiting girls to engage in sex acts with her former boyfriend, the late Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender.
