Turkey court jails three for life over 2016 attack

A Turkish court handed down life sentences to three people on Monday over a terrorist attack in 2016 that killed 12 people, among them six police officers. The bombing in Istanbul was claimed by Militant Kurdish group the Kurdistan Freedom Falcons. The court found defendants Eyup Sever and Murat Bal guilty of “violating the constituti­on” and “premeditat­ed murder”, handing both aggravated life terms, the official Anadolu news agency reported. Each was sentenced to 893 years in prison. A third defendant, Gulsah Bahadir, was sentenced to life for “premeditat­ed murder”.
