Turkey detains ISIS suspect wanted by US

-

Turkish intelligence arrested an Egyptian-born man, said to be an ISIS explosives expert who was wanted by Washington, state media reported yesterday. The suspect, identified as Mustafa Abdulwahab Mahmud, 22, was detained with three others on the outskirts of Istanbul after fleeing Syria, the reports said. He was detained on a tip from US intelligence, who were tracking him, the media reports said. They said he was believed to have been plotting attacks inside Turkey, including against US interests. Earlier this month, Ankara arrested an ISIS figure it identified as the right-hand man of the group’s former leader Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi.
