Car bomb kills eight in Somalia’s capital

-

Eight people were killed in a car bombing near a school in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu on Thursday in the latest attack claimed by Al Shabab extremists in the troubled country. Parents rushed to the scene of the attack, which severely damaged the school building. Injured students were taken to hospitals. Somalia police spokesman Abdifatah Adan said eight civilians were killed and 17 others wounded. Security official Mohamed Abdillahi said: “We don’t know the target of the attack.” Witnesses said a convoy carrying troops from Amisom, the African Union force fighting Al Shabab, was passing through the area when the bomb went off.
