Trials to replace daily blood pressure tablets

-

High blood pressure could be treated with an injection every six months instead of a daily tablet. Scientists are testing the approach in trials involving 100 patients in the UK and 630 worldwide. High blood pressure often does not have noticeable symptoms, but without treatment it can increase the risk of heart attacks and strokes. People with the condition typically take tablets once a day to control it. The British Heart Foundation said while there was not always an explanation for the cause of high blood pressure, most people developed it because of their diet, lifestyle or a medical condition. The study by Queen Mary University of London will run for three years.
