The coronation of the UK’s King Charles III next month is to be broadcast live on the Queen Elizabeth II floating hotel in Dubai.

The retired British ocean liner has previously screened other UK royal events – including Queen Elizabeth II’s platinum jubilee last year.

Large screens will be set up in the QE2’s ballroom and other dining areas to allow guests to watch the coronation in London on May 6.

The four-star hotel with 447 rooms and suites is berthed at Port Rashid.

“We’re thrilled to be able to offer our guests the chance to watch this historic moment live,” said Ferghal Purcell, general manager of the QE2.

“We believe that this will be a once-in-a-lifetime event and we wanted to create a special atmosphere for our guests.”

The Queen’s Room, one of the ship’s grandest spaces, will serve a Britain-themed buffet on the day, while a three-course buffet will be on offer at the Queen’s Grill.

The Golden Lion pub will serve traditional British dishes for guests, who can watch the day unfold on several screens.

The coronation service at Westminster Abbey, conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, is scheduled to begin at 2pm UAE time.

King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla will travel from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey inside the diamond jubilee state coach.

They will return along a route that includes Parliament Square, Trafalgar Square, the Admiralty Arch and The Mall.

Crowds filled the dining rooms and corridors of the QE2 to watch the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II in September.
