Get ready for Abu Dhabi Fes­ti­val 2019

THE PRO­GRAMME FOR Abu Dhabi Fes­ti­val 2019 has been re­vealed, and it is full of bril­liant, in­ter­na­tion­ally-renowned artists.

The month-long cel­e­bra­tion of arts and cul­ture will cel­e­brate the cul­tural wealth of the Re­pub­lic of Korea as its Coun­try of Hon­our, and it will take place in March 2019.

The fes­ti­val will fea­ture more than 120 events and pro­duc­tions, in­clud­ing opera, bal­let, jazz and Áa­menco, across 25 dif­fer­ent venues in the cap­i­tal.

The 16th edi­tion of the fes­ti­val has joined forces with the Spe­cial Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi, too.

To hon­our this col­lab­o­ra­tion, the over­all theme of the event is ‘Cul­ture of De­ter­mi­na­tion’, and it will fea­ture an hour-long con­cert of clas­si­cal and pop mu­sic en­ti­tled Stand Up For In­clu­sion.

The event kicks off with a pre-fes­ti­val per­for­mance from world-renowned Amer­i­can mezzo-so­prano opera singer Joyce Di­do­nato and the Orches­tra il pomo d’oro. Tak­ing place on Jan­uary 24, the mu­si­cal group fea­tures over 500 in­ter­na­tional artists from 17 dif­fer­ent coun­tries.

The next head­line act on the sched­ule is the Korean Na­tional Bal­let. Per­form­ing ro­man­tic bal­let Giselle, the group was the Àrst pro­fes­sional bal­let com­pany in the Re­pub­lic of Korea.

The Korean Sym­phony Orches­tra will also be per­form­ing in the UAE for the Àrst time, while the award-win­ning Amer­i­can jazz pian­ist Justin Kauáin will be per­form­ing tracks from his new al­bum, Com­ing Home.

The pro­gramme also in­cludes a pro­duc­tion of Puc­cini’s clas­sic opera TOSCA, the Áa­menco dancer and chore­og­ra­pher Sara Baras and a three-act bal­let by The Paris Opera Bal­let.
