11 to try this week

Time Out Dubai - - MUSIC & NIGHTLIFE -

WEDNESDAY ikandy ultralounge

Admire gorgeous views of the Burj Khalifa and Downtown Dubai as you slurp up three complimentary beverages and bop around the beats of DJ Babu on this plush rooftop. There’s also 50 percent off food with the likes of pizzas, burgers, fish and chips and salads.

→ Wed 7pm-midnight. Shangri-la Hotel, Sheikh Zayed Road (04 405 2703).

Not only do ladies get two free glasses of house grape at Grapeskin on Wednesday nights, you’ll also get a complimentary cheeseboard with a few slivers of brie, cheddar, red Leicester and the like with a handful of crackers. The venue is busy with a well-heeled crowd and the vibe is fun but still chilled with the post-work bunch letting their hair down. It’s definitely one of the best bars in the area.

→ Wed 8pm-10pm. La Ville Hotel & Suites, City Walk, Al Safa Street (054 309 5948).

There aren’t a huge amount of ladies’ nights that allow you to see out the end of the week with unlimited drinks, so this is a top choice if you’re looking for a post-work wind-down. The newly revamped Asian restaurant at Fairmont The Palm offers ladies free flowing drinks from 6pm until 9pm every Thursday in the lounge area of the venue. If you’re peckish you can also order up some nibbles such as crispy duck buns or tuna tacos. A good start to the weekend if you’re in the area. → Thu 6pm-9pm. Fairmont The Palm, Palm Jumeirah (04 457 3457).

Double Decker

This long-standing Downtown pub has

WHAT IS IT... Two free glasses of grape at Grapeskin WHY GO... The complimentary cheese board

everything you could ever want from a classic British watering-hole and its ladies’ night offers up three free drinks. It’s not one for a chic night out, but for a laid-back drink you’d do worse. A healthy dose of nostalgia comes in the form of pop memorabilia from David Bowie as well as The Beatles, adorning the entrance wall, while the stained glass windows will remind Brits of locals back at home.

→ Thu 8pm-10pm. Roda Al Murooj, Downtown Dubai (04 321 1111).

Cargo has a bustling ladies’ night where ladies get three free drinks including house grape and mixed drinks, though you might have quite a wait at the bar here. Persevere and you’ll be rewarded with a buzzing atmosphere and stunning views across the marina from the sprawling terrace onto the still waters below.

→ Tue & Fri 8pm-2am. Pier 7, Dubai Marina (04 361 8129).

SATURDAY Candypants Ladies’ Day Pool Party

Drink, dine and take a dip on the roof of FIVE Dubai Palm Jumeirah with a selection of packages every Saturday. For Dhs149 ladies get unlimited grape and frozen mixed drinks, for Dhs249 you’ll get the same with a food platter thrown in and for Dhs349 you’ll all that and sparkling grape on top. Gents are welcome, too, though they’ll have to fork out Dhs399 for the pricier sparkling grape deal.

→ Sat noon-5pm at The Penthouse, FIVE Dubai Palm Jumeirah, Palm Jumeirah (04 455 9989).

SUNDAY Bubbles Bar

Every Sunday ladies get unlimited mixed drinks and sparkling beverages at Bubbles Bar from 7pm until 11pm. With low lounge chairs scattered around the large room and plush leather sofas around the edges, there’s plenty of space to sit, especially as it tends to be a bit on the quiet side. It’s nothing special, but if you’re in the Al Barsha area and after a quiet, no-frills bar for those postwork drinks, Bubbles Bar fits the bill.

→ Sun 7pm-11pm. Novotel Al Barsha, Al Barsha (04 304 9000).

MONDAY Cavalli Club

For a glamorous ladies’ night you can’t go wrong with Cavalli. The cool club, from fashion designer Roberto Cavalli, is supertrendy and fun-loving. Drinks are unlimited – and free – and if you’re after a meal then you’ll get three courses for a bargain Dhs150 (think plenty of sushi etc). There’s music from DJ Jack and the night gets livelier as the hour gets later.

→ Dhs150 (three courses). Mon 8.30pmmidnight. Fairmont Hotel, Sheikh Zayed Road (050 991 0400).

TUESDAY Beefbar

This upmarket steakhouse prides itself on quality meat. Not only that, it has 11 varieties of mashed potato on the menu. It’s pretty pricey, but on a Tuesday ladies can take advantage of a special deal, which will get you two courses from a selected menu, plus a bottle of grape to share for Dhs195.

→ Dhs195. Tue 7pm-2am. Al Fattan Currency House, DIFC (04 352 2223).
