Discounts to be had on high-end fashion

ove the designer look but can’t afford the price? Enter Shop My Closet. The concept sees fashionable women here in Abu Dhabi sell high-end and pre-loved goods from their personal collections at discounted rates.

The bi-monthly initiative was started by stylist and founder of style agency Glamour On The Go, Antoinette Chorlton, last year after going through a rather ruthless closet edit herself, and is proving popular in the city. More than 250 people attended the last event hosted in December, prompting Chorlton to move to a larger venue.

“I want to show girls that fashion can be fun and you can look good no matter what your budget is,” she says.

Clothing and accessories available range from pre-loved high-end labels to highstreet favourites including Oscar de la Renta, Gucci, Jimmy Choo, Ted Baker, J. Crew, Zara, Fendi and Mango. Prices are also just as diverse, with items starting from Dhs20 going all the way up to Dhs1,000.

“I want to bring exclusive fashion that girls may think is unachievable and show them that one woman’s trash is someone else’s treasure,” adds Chorlton. “You can have your own little piece of luxury.”

You can visit the event as a shopper or even sign up to sell your own goods, with prior approval from Chorlton. Best of all, a portion of the proceeds from each event is then donated to a womenoriented charity.

Chorlton will also be hosting regular style workshops and fashionthemed ladies nights at the hotel until the end of May. February 8
