THE SHACK A taste of New England seafood in the city

-

hink cracking claws is the only way to eat lobster? Think again. The Shack is the newest seafood restaurant in town and is serving up crustaceans to the capital via New England.

Tucked into the corner of Guardian Towers on Muroor Road, this casual beach joint has everything you’d expect from a seaside diner – minus the sand. It’s a dimly lit space with fishnets draping light fixtures, empty Campbell soup cans

Tholding cutlery on the tables and wooden pallets hanging from the ceiling.

While we did spy some beef sliders and a couple of chicken options on the menu, it goes without saying that it’s the seafood (the lobster in particular) that you should order. If you’re not a fan of seafood then be warned: most dishes are infused with strong flavours from the sea. Take the poutine fries, for example. They came topped with what tasted like a creamy lobster bisque and were studded with lobster meat – unexpected but moreish, nonetheless. The soggy oven-baked mushrooms, however, failed to delight and left a puddle of water on the plate.

For mains, the lobster roll (in true New England style, there’s a version served cold
