The Weeknd is the first head­liner con­firmed for the F1 Yasalam Af­ter-Race Con­certs

G rammy award-win­ning R&B star The Weeknd is com­ing to Abu Dhabi – he’s been an­nounced as one of the head­lin­ers for the 2018 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and is set to per­form on Fri­day, Novem­ber 23. This will be only the sec­ond time he’s been to the UAE, af­ter first play­ing in Dubai in 2014.

The Weeknd, aka Abel Makko­nen Tes­faye, hails from Toronto and although he be­gan re­leas­ing mu­sic in 2010, it wasn’t un­til 2014 that he achieved in­ter­na­tional fame, work­ing with artists in­clud­ing Ari­ana Grande and Drake. He’s since had eight Bill­board Top 10 hits in­clud­ing The Hills, Earned It and Can’t Feel My Face, as well as the cer­ti­fied plat­inum, Star­boy.

This year’s race is the tenth F1 the UAE has held, and it takes place on Sun­day, Novem­ber 25. Race week­end will start on Thurs­day, Novem­ber 22, with three fur­ther Yasalam mu­sic head­lin­ers set to be an­nounced.
