DOS AND DON’TS

SIX THINGS TO REMEMBER WHILE YOU’RE IN NORWAY

-

DO

Prepare to lose track of time. During summer, your body clock won’t know what’s hit it, especially if you stay up to see the midnight sun. Bright sunlight in the early hours tricks you into thinking it’s 5pm not 5am.

DO

Get ready to eat a lot of seafood. Even if you’re not the biggest fan you simply must try the local cuisine, which is often caught just hours before it’s on your plate.

DO

Take the funicular railway to get the best view of Bergen. The cable car takes you straight to the top of the peak giving you a stunning panoramic view.

DON’T

Forget to pack your thermals, when you think you’ve got enough, pack another layer. Even though the sun’s out all the time you’ll still feel the cold – especially if you’re escaping the UAE summer. The average temperature in July in Norway is just 20°C.

DON’T

Expect to come home with much money. The living wage in Norway is high, which is reflected in the prices of goods and services – so be prepared to spend.

DON’T

Be critical of the local culture. A cruise along Norway’s coastline can literally feel like being a different world – eating whale for instance might seem unethical to you, but it’s normal in Norway.
