Abu Dhabi to host its first marathon
Pros and amateurs can compete this December
Think you’ve got what it takes to run 42.2km? Abu Dhabi is hosting its inaugural marathon this December, with a route that’ll take in the city’s landmarks such as the Corniche.
The 26.2m running event is open to all fitness levels and runners will also be able to take part in a series of smaller events, including 2.5km and 5km fun runs, and a 10km event.
International athletes are expected to take part, but the race is also open to the whole community, whether you run, walk, take part in a wheelchair or push a buggy. There will also be children’s activities and entertainment activities throughout the day.
The Adnoc Abu Dhabi Marathon is organised by Abu Dhabi Sports Council and has been given Bronze Label status from the International Association Of Athletics Federation (IAAF) and it is hoped the capital’s race can reach Gold Label status, which has already awarded to its London and Boston counterparts. To compete in the marathon itself will set you back Dhs350. December 7
