DOS AND DON’TS

THINGS TO REMEMBER WHILE YOU’RE IN TEHRAN

DO

Dress accordingly. For women, that means a headscarf, longsleeve clothing and trousers. For men, no shorts, although t-shirts are acceptable.

DO

Take dollars. Your credit and debit cards will be useless in Iran and you will be unable to use any of the city’s ATMs. There are, however, plenty of exchange places that will happily trade your dollars.

DON’T

Do not attend any demonstrations. Protests about the economic situation in Iran were held near the Grand Bazaar in June and others are likely.

DON’T

Do not visit Iran if you wish to enter the US easily anytime soon. Citizens of Visa Waiver Program designated countries will not be able to enter the US without a visa if they have visited Iran anytime since March 2011.
