AL HOSN
A look inside Abu Dhabi’s newest cultural destination
The name Hosn refers to the Inner Fort, Abu Dhabi’s first building, erected in 1795. Qasr refers to the Outer Palace built around the Inner Fort by Sheikh Shakhbut bin Sultan Al Nahyan in the 1940s, to house the ruling family. Inside these restored spaces will be permanent exhibitions of archival materials, audio-visuals and interactive experiences providing an insight into the way people lived and used the space. Public programming includes specialist tours on archaeology and architecture as well as re-enactments of aspects of daily life and activities for children.
