What's On (Abu Dhabi)

DESPITE LIVING IN THE UAE FOR ALMOST A DECADE…

-

I still feel like I’ve only scratched the surface when it comes to all the great things it has to offer. My first few years of being a UAE resident were a blurry mix of all the things an early-twenties newbie would typically be drawn to: beach days, brunches, and boat parties. It wasn’t until I’d been settled here for a few years that I really invested time into discovering the diversity of the emirates. Toasting marshmallows over a campfire in the desert, hiking in the mountains, strolling the fragrant souks… in the latter half of my life in the UAE, I’ve delighted in getting better acquainted with the emirates, from lesser-known Ajman and Umm Al Quwain to the under-the-radar sides to Dubai, and our very own Abu Dhabi.

But I still feel like I have so much to tick off, particularly after diving into our cover story on the brilliant walks to take you places across the UAE. Because I hate to say it already, but we’re probably entering the final few weeks of being able to enjoy alfresco adventures. But when you do pound the pavement, we’re here to make sure you do it with purpose, whether you’re on a well-mapped route around the capital’s big-hitting cultural icons, or walking the path less trodden in Old Dubai, stopping along the way for some of the best street food you’ll find in this part of town. Lace up and head to p17 to plan your first route.

And before we move into summer, there’s plenty to pack into your activity calendar in the capital. From circus performances and family-friendly stage shows to a cool music festival, we’re bringing you What’s On the calendar in Abu Dhabi this April from p29.

Enjoy the issue,
