Courtyard’s new season revealed

The Courtyard Playhouse has unveiled its autumn programme of plays from London’s National Theatre that will be screened at the Al Quoz venue. Everyman, on September 11 and 12, stars Oscar nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor, known for his roles in 12 Years A Slave and Love Actually (how’s that for range?) and tells the tale of a man who finds himself being trailed by Death as he searches for a friend to come to his defence. One of British drama’s oldest plays, this production features words by Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy. Behind The Beautiful Forevers, meanwhile, on September 25 and 26, is adapted from the renowned study of a Mumbai slum by Pulitzer Prize-winner Katherine Boo and stars comic actress Meera Syal.
