Catch a per­for­mance of Shadowland at Dubai World Trade Cen­tre

Fancy a night of theatre that’s a lit­tle out­side the box? Then you’ll want a front-row seat at Shadowland, a mul­ti­me­dia ex­pe­ri­ence com­ing to the Dubai World Trade Cen­tre this month.

Part shadow act, part dance, part cir­cus and part con­cert, the show is con­sid­ered the first of its kind to blend mul­ti­me­dia, shadow theatre, sto­ry­telling, and bal­let. Ex­pect to see mul­ti­ple mov­ing screens of dif­fer­ent sizes and shapes, pro­jected images and frontof-screen chore­og­ra­phy.

A com­ing-of-age love story, Shadowland tells the tale of a young girl who wakes at night to find her shadow lurk­ing be­hind her bed­room wall – she heads off on a jour­ney to Shadowland search­ing for a way out.

The show has been tour­ing glob­ally for sev­eral years and has per­formed in Abu Dhabi be­fore, and will be mak­ing its de­but in the emi­rate with a three-night run and two per­for­mances per day.

The pro­duc­tion is a col­lab­o­ra­tion be­tween US dance com­pany Pilobo­lus, in col­lab­o­ra­tion with Steven Banks, lead writer for tele­vi­sion car­toon SpongeBob SquarePants. Amer­i­can mu­si­cian, pro­ducer and film com­poser Davie Poe is be­hind the pro­duc­tion’s score.
