Ripe Mar­ket an­nounces a new lo­ca­tion, plus wan­der around the city’s out­door mar­kets

Com­mu­nity mar­ket Ripe is one of the most pop­u­lar mar­kets in Dubai and makes for a fun fam­i­lyfriendly day out. Ac­cord­ing to its founder, Ripe Mar­ket is all about ‘sup­port­ing lo­cal, eat­ing lo­cal and shop­ping lo­cal’.

What’s new?

For the win­ter sea­son, Ripe has part­nered with Dubai Po­lice to host its new premises in­side the Dubai Po­lice Acad­emy. In the new lo­ca­tion, there will be a food vil­lage and pop-up shops, with work­shops and talks on nu­tri­tion, health and fit­ness.

Ripe is also plan­ning to cre­ate a park – in­clud­ing a per­ma­nent climb­ing wall and ob­sta­cle course – in­side the venue, with ac­tiv­i­ties aimed at visi­tors of all ages.

What can we ex­pect from the new premises?

You can ex­pect to find stalls from over one hun­dred lo­cal ar­ti­sans and small busi­nesses. Ex­pect a se­lec­tion of fresh bread, or­ganic fruit and vegeta­bles, lo­cally cre­ated jams, chut­neys and spreads, ice cream, cof­fee as well as ve­gan food.

Visi­tors can also pick up goods from lo­cal mak­ers in­clud­ing hand­made jew­ellery, fash­ion, arts and crafts and home dé­cor.

There will also be yoga classes, kids’ ac­tiv­i­ties, a pet­ting zoo, work­shops and live mu­sic.

Will Ripe’s other mar­kets still be on-go­ing?

In ad­di­tion to its win­ter mar­ket, Ripe will con­tinue to op­er­ate its other mar­kets; the Times Square Mar­ket will be run­ning un­til Novem­ber 24, whilst in Abu Dhabi, there will be a weekly mar­ket on Satur­days from 3pm to 9pm in Umm Al Emarat Park. There will be live mu­sic, work­shops, ac­tiv­i­ties, al­fresco eat­ing and ven­dors sell­ing food, fash­ion, beauty, art and lo­cally grown fruit and vegeta­bles. From late Nov un­til April 2019
