ALADDIN
What would the festive season be without a Christmas pantomime? Thankfully, it returns this year to Madinat Theatre with the story of Aladdin, retold to audiences from December 19 to 28. Ahead of the show, we had a chat with lead actor Jordan Veloso.
How do you get into character for Aladdin?
I think Aladdin is a cheeky chap, very loving and loveable and he wants to achieve something big. Lucky for me, I’m very similar.
What’s the best part about playing Aladdin?
Maybe the best part about being able to play Aladdin is being allowed to get away with things that no one else would.
Any other plans while you’re here in Dubai?
This is my second visit to Dubai, and my second performance at the gorgeous Madinat Theatre. We managed to see most of Dubai’s top attractions last time we were here, but I didn’t manage to visit the top of the Burj Khalifa or go dune bashing, which I’d love to do this time around. What can we expect from the show? Now that would be telling and everyone loves a surprise don’t they? All I can say is, the show will be lots of fun, and lots of festive audience participation!
If you had three wishes of your own, what would they be?
That’s a hard question. I have a large beautiful, loving family who live on a tiny island called Guernsey in the Channel Islands and I live in London, so my first wish would be to be able to live closer to them all. My second wish would be to make a law for everyone to laugh and smile at least three times a day and, my third wish would be to make burgers a healthy food!
