What everyone is talking about
This year marks the third instalment of the Children’s International Film Festival ( CIFF2016) and it promises to be bigger, better and more engaging than past years combined. Taking place at VOX Cinemas across the UAE from this weekend until May 7, CIFF2016 will feature 117 age- appropriate films, and over 1,156 short, feature and documentary films from 66 countries in 55 languages from international filmmakers, compared to just 410 films submitted last year. More than 160 local short- films have been produced in a span of five months by UAE School students aged 12- 17, and of these, 134 films were submitted to CIFF2016. Your favourite indulgence when you need a break from work? Getting a pedicure. There is something invigourating about taking time to chat with a friend or read for an hour while getting your toes done.
What is your greatest dream, professionally? To be honest, I am currently living my dream. But if I was to look further ahead it would be to continue expanding my chocolate bar while simultaneously using it as a catalyst to feature local fashion, art and culture. I want to incorporate all the amazing creativity I find into the work that we do.
What is the last thing you ( usually) do before you go to sleep? I say a prayer of thanks for another day, for my family and friends, for the lessons I learned. Mygrandmother impressed upon metheimportance of saying ‘ thank you’ before sleep as each day given to us is a gift.
