The 33 ( 2015) ( PG- 13) This emotionally charged flick is based on the real life mining disaster in 2010 that saw 33 miners trapped inside the San Jose Mine in Chile for more than two months. It’s not easy to keep an audience interested in a film when they already know the ending, but director Riggen keeps things interesting by giving a face to the problem. Mario ( Banderas) becomes something of a leader, stopping the men from despairing and distributing their very limited food supply. In the meantime, politicians clash over the expensive rescue operation while family members push the government to take action. Overall, a well- rounded film that deserves a watch. Genre: Biography/ Drama/ History What’s good: This one packs in the emotion What’s bad: Starts off slow Cast: Antonio Banderas, Rodrigo Santoro, Juliette Binoche Rating: Fargo Year 2 ( 2014-) ( TV- MA) The black comedy- crime show is back, and following the tradition of shows like True Detective, this season introduces us to a whole new plot and cast. Set in Fargo, North Dakota, ( where else?) this season is a prequel to the first. It follows beautician Peggy ( Dunst) and her husband Ed ( Plemons), a butcher, who are involved in a cover up after a horrible hit- and- run accident, and the murder of Rye Gerhardt. Now, Rye isn’t exactly too innocent either — authorities are looking into murders committed by him. But the fact that he is the son of a crime family in Fargo gives the season a dark twist. Duration: 10 episodes x 53 mins Genre: Crime/ Drama What’s good: Fascinating characters What’s bad: Nothing Cast: Kirsten Dunst, Patrick Wilson, Jesse Plemons Rating:
