No More ‘ depresso’

-

I once read a quote about depression: “A human being can survive almost anything as long as they see the end in sight, but depression is so insidious, and it compounds daily, that it’s impossible to ever see the end. The fog is like a cage without a key.” And so, the article The Depresso Whisperer ( August 5, 2016) will surely come as a beacon of light for those going through such a phase.

Depression is far too common these days with stressful lives. It’s no surprise that even celebrities like Owen Wilson and Ashley Judd, athletes in their prime like Michael Phelps and, closer home, A- listers like Deepika Padukone have all been hit by it. As with all of them, being able to admit it and deal with it led to closure.

Michael Phelps was at his lowest two years ago, after becoming the most decorated Olym- pian of all time — , maybe, because of the pressure of it. Luckily, he got help and is now back. The pride and sense of achievement was all over his face as he led the US Olympic team at the Rio opening ceremony. Already a winner!
