CRAZY TIMES TABLES

It’s not easy to get kids interested in math, but this app does so with ease. Developed by teachers, the app uses games and fun photos to help kids get fluent with time tables. It’s great because it adopts a personalised approach and asks questions that offer appropriate challenges after identifying a child’s stage in learning. It also loops around to bring back questions that kids might have gotten wrong the first time around.

INTRO TO LETTERS

A lovely, minimalist app to help your kid learn his or her ABCS. Intro to Letters will talk your kid through the writing process, from reading, writing and understanding the alphabets to consonants and vowels, and fine tuning their motor skills. It deserves a special mention because of its unique recording feature that allows parents to record, save and use their own voiceover through the app. Your voiceover is a great way to personalise it while helping your kids learn to read and write.

TAPQUIZ MAPS WORLD EDITION

If geography isn’t your little one’s strong suit, you can make sure he or she stays up- to- date with this free app. Basically, questions appear on a world map, and all your kid has to do is tap the correct answer to each question. Its statistics feature keeps score and tracks progress. Kids can also tap and type out the names of the countries themselves ( stars will be received if they get it right).

LUMOSITY

This one is the ultimate brain training app. Lumosity has a series of cognitive games, which adapt to your unique performance, to keep you challenged. The app has over 25 games, designed by scientists, which turn into something of a daily training programme. Whether they are matching tiles, after only briefly viewing them, or trying to remember the direction of a single bird in a flock, this one will force your kids to concentrate. And the game can be used by adults too!
