Flying the coop
My daughter flew the nest nearly twenty years ago and a decade later, my little boy followed her, creating a vacuum in our lives ( After the kids have flown, Sept 23). Once kids come into our lives, being a parent becomes our significant identity. They become our centre of attention, focus and an ultimate source of joy. But when they are finally ready to fly the coop, the transition becomes too hard for parents to bear.
After reading about those in the article, I am considering the art of self- discovery. However, I will always await my kids’ visits as their very presence acts as a pick- me- up.
