IN THE THICK OF IT

I’m writing to let you know that I’m no longer a triathlon virgin (you printed my email in the February issue)! I’ve since done Merthyr Sprint Triathlon and Merthyr Tri Club Duathlon, and I have to say what amazing experiences. Both brilliantly run events and everyone so encouraging. You hear this from other first-timers but you never quite understand until you’re in the thick of it. I’m planning on another couple before the season ends and have also purchased a wetsuit so I can push myself in open water as well as longer events next season. Alan Monks
